The Cog Ring is the same thickness as the backspacer. That is a bit too thin for a knife like the Recon 1. It is also too small in diameter. I realize it is easier to make the ring out of the same thickness as the factory backspacer, but it looks too dainty. I made my own Signet Ring for a Spyderco Manix 2 XL based on the Wise Men Signet Ring. See the photo. The ring is almost as wide as the scales. Just had to mill off the backspacer portion. I'll either copy the Cog and make it wider and a larger diameter, or add two shouldered rings press fit into the factory Cog for a thicker ring. Look at most Karambit knifes, they feature a prominent ring, however that part of the function of the knife. The Cog is mostly for a quick draw. The Cog looks to be an afterthought as it doesn't flow with the look of the Recon 1, but I applaud the maker for producing accessories to customize knives.
